Water Grazing Wildlife Game

The property supports an abundance of wildlife.  It also is currently bordered by large properties of from 75 to several thousand acres in size.  In both 2004 and 2005 approximately 100 elk cows and calves were seen throughout the summer months.  Trophy six by six bulls were sighted on the property in both of these years and several young bulls were frequently sighted during the late summer and fall months.  An excellent mule deer population is also present.
No big game harvest has occurred during the past two hunting seasons to allow investigation into what wildlife populations the property is capable of supporting.  Mule deer buck quality showed substantial improvement as a result and at least four bucks seen on the property in 2005 that were estimated to be four years old or older, along with eight or more younger bucks.   To ensure no poaching occurred, retired Division of Colorado Wildlife biologist Mike McLain was contracted to post the property and patrol it during the 2004 and 2005 hunting seasons.
